Trainee Coach Guidelines

To be eligible for the Jamie Venerys Coach Traineeship Program, you need to:

  • Be of a suitable playing standard.
    • Top level pennant player
    • Approved junior for senior club play
    • ITN Level 7 or below
  • Have had at least three years of group coaching and private lessons with the Jamie Venerys Tennis Star Program as a tennis student.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Have had experience with young children.
  • Be prepared to assist TCA qualified coaches on-court with holiday clinic classes and group classes.
  • Attend all coach workshops and training sessions offered by the Jamie Venerys Tennis Star Program.
  • Attend the Tennis West Orientation to Coaching (OTC) course.
  • Work towards obtaining a minimum of 40 hours on-court experience with the objective to eventually complete the TCA Development Course.
  • Wear recognised tennis attire at all times.

All trainee coaches are under the direct supervision of a TCA Advanced Coach at all times and are covered by the Head Coach's insurance at both Mosman Park and Peppermint Grove Tennis Clubs.
