Find your inner tennis star and compete in the December 12 Tennis Star Challenge Tournament
A tennis tournament which uses smaller courts, nets, racquets and low-compression balls is the exciting new addition to this year’s playing season.
Open to players from eight to 12 years old, it will be held at Mosman Park Tennis Club on Saturday, December 12, from 9am to 1pm.
Called the Tennis Star Challenge, it uses the playing format promoted by Tennis Australia’s new Hot Shots program.
Using a three ball system - red, orange and green – players use the right low-compression ball and court size for their age and physical ability. It is a progressive system with red balls and a quarter-sized court being used by eight year olds and under, orange balls and a three quarter size court by 10 year olds and under, and green balls and a full size court by 12 year olds and under.
Hot Shots is the fun way for younger kids to play competitively. The program also promotes club membership. Club members from Peppermint Grove and Mosman Park have been using the new Hot Shots playing format each weekend and have been able to serve, rally and score since the first time they started to play.
The tournament is managed by the Jamie Venerys Tennis Star Program.
There is a $25 entry fee and entries need to be posted to PO Box 564 Cottesloe WA by 5pm, December 8. An entry form can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
Sponsored by Anchor, IGA Mosman Park and SunSmart, the Tennis Star Challenge Tournament is also a Tennis West sanctioned event.
