What is the Tennis Star Challenge?
Young players between the ages of seven and 10 are invited to join the Tennis Star Challenge, a special weekly competition at Peppermint Grove and Mosman Park Tennis Clubs.
Starting on Saturday, October 18 at Peppermint Grove, and Sunday, October 19 at Mosman Park, players have the opportunity of playing in the Challenge on both days or on the one day of their choice for a period of eight weeks.
Both events begin at 10am and involve competitive play with modified equipment to encourage children to learn faster, using correct tennis technique in a match situation.
“The size of the court, racquet and balls reflect the physiological development and learning capability of kids but at the same time it’s a fun way for them to improve their skills,” said Head Coach Jamie Venerys.
Players can get into practice at weekday classes after school and also the Jamie Venerys Tennis Star Program holiday clinics, September 30 to October 3 and October 6-10, 2008. Clinics are held at Mosman Park Tennis Club and are open to children of all ages and include morning tea.
Term 4 group coaching classes for children and adults also start on October 18. For more information call Jamie on 0417 933 398.
