Jamie Venerys Launches Mini Tennis Program
A new way of teaching young children tennis is being introduced by Jamie Venerys as part of his coaching program at Peppermint Grove and Mosman Park Tennis Clubs.
The Jamie Venerys Tennis Star Program offers a range of coaching options for children and adults of all ages.
“Now there is the Mini Tennis Program,” said Jamie, “Which offers an exciting new direction for players and coaches.
“The advantage is that kids are able to execute correct tennis technique, hit more balls and play matches much sooner.
“We will also introduce a Mini Tennis Tournament as part of our clubs’ competitive events where children can test the skills they’ve learnt in class.”
Using special low pressure balls and modified equipment, the Mini Tennis Program is based on the hugely successful Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) model operating in the United Kingdom.
It is a step-up program for children aged three to nine years. The court, racquet and ‘tennis’ ball size reflects the physiological development and learning capability of children.
Class progression follows what is called a traffic light system. Step One is the ‘Red’ class where children play on a quarter tennis court using a mini net, mini racquets and large red balls. Step two is the ‘Orange’ class where children play on a half tennis court using mini or midi sized racquets and over sized orange balls. Step three is the ‘Green’ class where children play on a three-quarter tennis court using midi or junior sized racquets and slightly oversized green balls.
Mini Tennis classes start from Saturday, October 21. For dates and times and a copy of the latest coaching brochure go to the Jamie Venerys web site – www.tennisstaronline.com.au.
The Mini Tennis Program is a registered name of the Jamie Venerys Tennis Star Program.
