Mini Tennis
My mini tennis program is based on the hugely successful Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) model operating in the United Kingdom. It is a step-up tennis program for kids aged three to nine years. The size of the court, racquet and 'tennis' balls reflect the physiological development and learning capability of kids. This mini tennis structure has proven to be a fun and successful learning environment for young players. Children are able to execute correct tennis technique, hit more balls and play matches.
Class progression follows the traffic light colour system:
- Red Class (step 1):
- 3-6 year olds play on a quarter tennis court using a mini net, mini racquets and large red 'tennis' balls.
- Orange Class (step 2):
- 5-8 year olds play on a half tennis court using mini or midi sized racquets and over-sized orange tennis balls.
- Green Class (step 3):
- 7-9 year olds play on a three-quarter tennis court using midi or junior sized racquets and slightly oversized green tennis balls.
Mini tennis club tournaments encourage competition and are a great step towards joining club social and competitive play. To find out when the latest mini tennis classes and activities are on, go to brochures and flyers.
